Play New SCRABBLE Cubes Game Online

Posted December 8, 2006 @ 5:32 pm — Filed under: Game News

SCRABBLE CubesSCRABBLE Cubes is a new game from WorldWinner, and has quickly become one of the most popular games on the site.

SCRABBLE Cubes is a 3-D word game based on Hasbro’s classic crossword board game, in which players achieve high scores by connecting letters to find as many words as possible across the surface of an ever-changing arrangement of cubes. The game features SCRABBLE tiles with corresponding point values, giving wordsmiths everywhere the opportunity to compete in a modern version of their favorite word game for cash and prizes. Adding to the challenge, players are tempted with bonus cubes containing special values, such as “double word score” or “double letter score,” as in the popular SCRABBLE board game.

The games plays as sort of a three-dimensional Boggle, except that it uses SCRABBLE point values and bonuses. This is not just a straight conversion of SCRABBLE to online play. This is actually a game that could never exist in the real world, but it’s a perfect fit for the computer and online play.

You can play for free in practice mode as long as you want, or you can play in one of the many ongoing live competitions against real people from around the world.

SCRABBLE Cubes is a terribly addictive new diversion, and should please any word lover.

  1. I just found out that you can’t play for free as long as you want, unfortunately. I’m addicted to this game but I just got an error message that said “Sorry! Because of our commitment to fairness, there are currently no new 2-Player SCRABBLE Cubes competitions available with other people at your skill level.” In other words, they want me to cough up some money to continue to play. You can play in the training mode, but not in 2-player tournament mode. I even tried signing out and setting up a new account. The new account let me play one or two games but never back to back. It’s a big pain. I wish it were a game I could download!

  3. Hello….I wld love to purchase this game on my computer…..I do not wish to be competitive…..just want the game for my pasttime. Is this a possibility? Maybe down the line, I will want to compete, but I think I should brush up first. Pls answer…..I loved the “freebie”

  4. I Do Not Want To Compete This is a Hobby and Pastime for me.
Selfish and greedy is the word for whomever decided to only allow you to play if you compete and use money.

  5. I have played this for 3 years, free. I love it and play it daily. They just put up a message telling me “Enough practice already, update your account” meaning I should send them money. Since the server often is slow to submit words, as slow as 4-8 seconds, I am not going to play competitively. I am looking for another source for this game.

  6. I loved playing the game, just wish that the “option” to play for “free” was still available………….taking away an “option” can sometimes do more harm than good.

  7. I too am pissed off about being forced to pay and compete – I will start looking for other game sites.

  8. GSN has refused to let me continue to play for free even though my state, Illinois, will not let me put money up to compete. It is a liar and a cheat saying that you can play for free.

  9. I knew this was coming now that we are all addicted to Scrabble Cubes. Any possibility that we can play for free again? I am 72 years old on a limited income and can’t afford to bet money. I’m sure there are enough players paying money to play without us.

  10. You’re right…you CAN’T play as long as you want. I too, really like this game. I got a message that said, “alright already…enough practice.” I was then instructed to pay to continue to play. Since I wanted to continue, I attempted to “upgrade” and was THEN told that I live in a state that will not allow playing for money. When I sent an email to World Winner, asking what I could do…. I was basically told, “Too bad, so sad….”

  11. I am totally peeved as well. It won’t allow me to play anymore without paying that just plain sucks!! Totally greedy if you ask me!!

  12. I love Scrabble Cubes! But I do not gamble, so I will not “upgrade” my account. Even if I did gamble, I wouldn’t use the Worldwinner site to gamble because their server is too unpredictable – sometimes slow, sometimes unresponsive. I would gladly pay to purchase this game if it were ever made available for home use. Hopefully the people at Worldwinner will consider that option.

  13. I love Scrabble Cubes but have NO interest whatsoever in playing competitively. It is a load of crap for this site to say you can play free for as long as you wish. Very greedy and dishonest.

  14. According to my sources, and I believe them to be reliable, the issue is with the game owner, Hasbro, not gsn.com. I, too, live in a state where the legislators believe they know better how to handle my finances than I do and therefore don’t allow me to upgrade to a paid account. Those with paid accounts can still play the game for free the old way, as I understand it, but gsn.com has to abide by Hasbro’s licensing rules. It’s been my favorite game anywhere for over a year!

  15. Yah, i LOVE this game SO MUCH, and can no longer play for free or at ALL for that matter.. it’s just NOT RIGHT…i am SO addicted.. and i would LOVE to just pay the upgrade to play it, IF it would LET me.. but i live in Illinois and it won’t let Illinoisian’s upgrade.. therefore i can no longer play at all… EVER… this is RIDICULOUS!!! It’s UNFAIR.. i am caught right in the middle… can’t play unless i upgrade and can’t upgrade cuz i live in IL… there needs to be EXEPTIONS for this kind of predicament!!! :0(

  16. Also i have looked and looked online to play it somewhere else on another site or something.. but they all link back to the same site… GSN.. where of course there sits that nasty yellow UPGRADE button Grrrrrr… :0(

  17. I just love this game and am hooked. My problem is that my state, Florida, will not allow me to upgrade my membership and the site is not allowing me to play for free anymore. I know I’m not the only one in this predicament, so let’s all get together to change this rule or find another place to get our scrabble cubes fix.

  18. I love this game. I have a new message though that the game cannot download necessary game requirements. I have checked all my security settings and add-ons with no changes to anything. Any ideas anybody? I am going through withdrawal…

  19. I don’t know why yall are having such a hard time playing for free. I just make a new account when it asked me to upgrade. I’ve been playing for free at least 30 games a day for 4 months. hooked on it

    Comment by Jen — June 27, 2009 @ 3:02 pm

  20. Let’s all email Hasbro & tell them we want to play for free again!

    Comment by Cheryl Dunn Bychek — July 2, 2009 @ 2:41 pm

  21. Number 19, what about the email? Do you use the same email everytime too? Do you just make new names and use the same email or what? This is so UNFAIR to those of us who live in a state that can’t upgrade!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……….!!!!!

    Comment by Mary — August 19, 2009 @ 1:20 pm

  22. hey mary, #21 I use a different email, I make one up, they don’t verify it. make up the user name too. doing that about a year now, over 1,000 games
